Development Services

Mission Statement: It is the intention of the City of Hondo Development Services to provide a safe and healthy environment for its citizens.

The City of Hondo's Development Services division is responsible for coordinating all land and building division throughout the City and within the ETJ adopted by the City of Hondo City Council. Our division assists homeowners, business owners, and contractors in ensuring that their project, whether it be a new building, demotion, or remodel, is in compliance with applicable city and building codes. The City's Fire Marshal is located within this division and works closely with design professionals, contractors, and building owners to ensure compliance with all fire codes and standards. The Development Services division is also responsible for helping to shape the future of Hondo through implementation and maintenance of the City's Master Plan and policies related to growth and development. The Development Services division works closely with the Board of Adjustment and Planning and Zoning Commission in guiding the City's growth and development. The division handles the following:

Current Planning, i.e. Permitting and Development

  • Permitting
  • Inspections
  • Site plan review
  • Subdivision/platting
  • Fees

Codes and Regulations Code Compliance Fire Marshal

  • UDC
  • Any other applicable/development related sections from Code of Ordinances

Planning and Zoning

The Development Division staff are certified in Code enforcement with a Fire Marshal licensed and certified to perform plan reviews, inspections, and investigations while holding a Texas State Peace Officers license.
