Hondo U

HONDO U – Fall Semester Starts October 1
The City of Hondo is proud to announce the return of Hondo U.  Seize this opportunity to learn, serve and be involved in YOUR city.
Hondo U is an 8 week program providing and in depth look at how the City functions. Students will have the advantage to observe, ask questions, see equipment/facilities and meet the City Staff responsible for all City operations.
Hondo U was designed as a way to give participants an insider’s knowledge of City operations, to create a transparent relationship between the City and its citizens and to encourage involvement in city government.
Each class is taught by the director of a city department, followed by a tour. This provides students with hands-on experience in city properties and functions such as the library, airport, public works, the STRTC training center and the recreation center.  Upon graduation students will be equipped with the knowledge to follow city policies & procedures and to assume a leadership role in the community.
Launched in the fall of 2018, Hondo U has successfully graduated over 50+ students.  Last year’s students described the program as “authentic and transparent.”
