Electric Curtailment Update

Electric Curtailment Update
The state-wide load curtailment requirements mandated by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, ERCOT, and implemented by CPS Energy, Hondo’s wholesale power provider, will continue, with additional rolling outages anticipated throughout the week.
CPS Energy is dropping load throughout their service territory, which includes Hondo, on a rolling basis in order to meet the load levels set by ERCOT. On average, an electric circuit that has been dropped will be off for approximately 5 hours, then on for 5, on a repeating basis until the energy demand levels state-wide drop below available generation capacity.
While many citizens of Hondo are affected by the rolling outages, actual problems with the distribution system owned and operated by Hondo have been extremely few given the Icy weather conditions. Only four small outages have been reported since the storm started almost a week ago.
Your continued patience and understanding is greatly appreciated and Hondo will do all we can to minimize outages within the city while still doing our part to protect the state grid.
